Gingerbread Houses

Apparently, all of the retailers' marketing works well...mere minutes after waking up the day after Thanksgiving, Amelia and Soren were busy talking about Christmas.  Happily, we found a fun way to start getting ready for the next round of holidays:  making gingerbread houses.  Mommy designed the houses, Amelia and Daddy planned out the decorations, and Soren took the lead in tasting the various candy options.  As you can see, the results were beautiful and, as the kids can testify, delicious too...both houses were entirely gone within two days.

Happy Thanksgiving!

This year, we celebrated Thanksgiving at Grandpa and Grandma Becky's house, along with Goggy, Uncle Wavy and Auntie Jennifer, who was up from LA and who the kids got to meet for the first time.  We had a great meal, topped off with Mommy's wonderful apple and pumpkin pies.  Amelia and Soren then ran off their meals with Jennifer in repeated games of hide-and-seek, football and bunny-ear-dancing.  Definitely a fun way to spend the holiday!

We're Off to See the Wizard...

We took Amelia and Soren to see the Wizard of Oz at the Seattle Children's Theater, where we ran into their friend Autumn.  The kids enjoyed much of the play, but found the Wicked Witch of the West a bit too convincing for their liking.  Happily, she didn't come out for the autograph signings after the play, when Amelia got Uncle Henry's autograph, while Soren got Dorothy to sign his program.

International Man of Mystery

Soren has been a bit under the weather this week, and spent a good amount of time with Goggy.  In addition to covering her refrigerator with some artwork, the duo have been busy planning for and speculating about what life will be like on our trip to Southeast Asia.  As you can see, they will be fully prepared if it turns out that folks are still living under French or Dutch colonial rule, particularly if Soren gets the chance to ride an elephant!

Wedding Artist

Amelia has continued to be fascinated with Auntie Zoe's and Uncle Rob's wedding since we returned to Seattle.  She made a special page of pictures from the wedding (and some other highlights of the rest of our trip) for her class notebook, and also drew a series of pictures about the wedding, including one of herself and Auntie Zoe.
