Snow in Seattle

Our latest Seattle "snowstorm" only brought us an inch of snow, but Soren and Amelia certainly made the most of it!

Hiking

We took a great hike in the Redmond Preserve this weekend. Amelia blazed the trail for the rest of us, while Soren kept stopping to try out different "walking sticks" that he found along the way. The kids are already asking to go again and we can't wait for the warmer weather to return so that we can do some more hiking!

Park City

We met up with Nana, Taid and Auntie Zoe in Park City, Utah for a great vacation in February. Amelia gradually took to skiing, especially using some kids' strap-on skis that our friend Kate lent us. Both kids loved playing in the snow and Amelia perfected the art of snow drawings. We got to meet some of the local "wildlife" and had some great meals and snacks, including a fun dinner with Kate, Terrence and Soren's new friend Bergen. It was a great vacation and we'll definitely be heading back sometime soon!

Meals with Kaila, Lexi and Kristina

We've met Mickaila, Alexei and Kristina for some fun meals this winter. The kids have had a blast, especially when they've found fun stuff to put on their heads.

Soccer with Auntie Zoe

Auntie Zoe flew out for a short vacation in January and came along to Soren's soccer class, where she saw how America's next generation of soccer stars are being trained.

Souffle-Maker

Amelia has been interested in cooking this year. When she heard that dessert on New Year's Eve was going to be chocolate souffles, Amelia agreed to help make them...so long as she got to lick the bowl. Recognizing the risks in making souffle, Amelia later tried to disguise her role in the finished dessert...luckily, they were great!

Zoolights 2011

We continued our holiday celebrations with a Boxing Day visit to Zoolights, a pretty amazing annual light show at the Point Defiance Zoo, as well as a model train show, carousel ride and dinner to top off the day. Soren not only loved the lights, but also the few animals we saw, saying "More Camel" for most of the ride home!
